A POLITICO-Citrin Center-Possibility Lab survey conducted between July 28 and August 12, 2025, found that 64% of California voters prefer the independent commission over legislator-drawn maps, with strong support across party lines (72% of independents, 66% of Republicans, 61% of Democrats).

Newsom announced on August 14, 2025, that he intends to call a special election on November 4, 2025, to ask California voters to approve a mid-decade redistricting plan, known as the "Election Rigging Response Act." This plan would allow Democrats to bypass the independent California Citizens Redistricting Commission until 2030 despite the people already voting on two propositions to establish this commission and recent survey’s still showing overwhelming preference that empowers ONLY the commission to draw district lines.
Newsom’s proposal would empower the California State Legislature to redraw congressional maps for the 2026, 2028, and 2030 elections, sidelining the independent commission for these cycles. The commission would resume its role after the 2030 census.
Newsom is afraid Californians will wake up and realize they’ve been cheated out of Constitutional provisioned fair representation AND that the Obama census was weaponized against the people to gerrymander Independents and Republicans out of Congress and Sacramento by counting the millions of illegal aliens in the state!
For decades, Sacramento has cited an estimate of 1.5 million undocumented immigrants in California, a figure that has shaped policy discussions and public perception. However, when the state expanded free healthcare access to all undocumented immigrants, over 5.5 million individuals enrolled, revealing a staggering discrepancy that suggests the actual population may be significantly larger than previously reported.
We need Federal investigation and intervention and we need to stop Newsom’s plot by demanding he pull that initiative and cease this 94% Democrat power grab before it’s too late!
